Georgia House of Representatives Speaker David Ralston has selected the new Cherokee County Airport Terminal as one of the stops on a planned state fly-around on Wednesday, July 7. Speaker Ralston will arrive at the airport at 4 p.m. for a Press Conference and a meeting with State Representatives, elected County and City officials and Community leaders from Cherokee as well as Pickens, Bartow and Forsyth counties. He will be briefing them on the past year’s activities of the House as well as outlining the plans and challenges of the upcoming session. The news media is invited to be a dynamic part of this meeting.
The briefings will be followed at 5 p.m. by a reception and fundraising event, also at the airport. The reception will be open to all that would like to attend and get to know the Speaker personally. Those interested contributing at the reception should make their check to “Georgia Republican Party”, with the memo line ‘for legislative majority’. The reception, sponsored by the Cherokee County Republican Party is designed to raise funds specifically dedicated to holding onto and increasing its majority in the House in the upcoming elections.
The Cherokee County Airport is located just off the Airport Road, I575 exit 24, just a few miles north of the City of Canton. The newly completed terminal is on the west side of the airport runways.

A K- 8th Grade public Charter School is being proposed for the Holly Springs area this month to the Cherokee County School Board by Charter Schools USA. A third party will provide the school facilities. Thus, this will be a school that requires no SPLOST money and will operate at 67% of the overall per student cost compared to the current per student cost of the Cherokee County School District. A Town Hall is being held tonight at 7 PM at the Holly Springs Municipal Court building and again next Thursday at the Woodstock library. For more information and to sign the petition for the proposed school, see http://www.cherokeecharter.org .
Your support could save taxpayers money, potentially take 850 students out of the currently crowded CCSD schools and provide a proven, successful educational choice for Cherokee parents.
